Research Details
A screw conveyor without a shaft is now available from Martin Sprocket & Gear,
Inc. This continuous flight "shaftless" (also referred to as a pipeless) conveyor eliminates the need for intermediate hanger frames, bearings, coupling shafts, coupling bolts, end bearings and end seals and the maintenance headaches associated with them.
Ideally suited for problem applications where wet, sticky, fibrous, large, etc. products are being conveyed, or when full trough loading is desired, the shaftless conveyor can make a significant contribution to increasing uptime and
revenue. Operating at low rpm, shaftless eliminates product buildup on pipe common on standard screws, can operate on inclines as well as horizontal and can use side inlets. Particle sizes up to 90% of the flight outside diameter can be handled resulting in a more effective utilization of available space. The flighting is available in a variety of materials, a range of diameters and in many pitches. Successful installations resulting in documented savings include applications in pulp & paper, food processing, waste management, cement, beverage and mining.
