Product Description
Excel Automation has a proven record of installing towline, skillet and skid
conveyor systems into many different industry sectors, and for many different
applications.
Towline Conveyors
Towline conveyors are capable of towing industrial trucks, carts, dollies or
mobile racking. They operate via a chain system beneath floor tracks, which
follows set paths.
Transportation of vehicles is easily achieved by engaging the vehicle to the
driven chain using a chain pin or chain dog arrangement. The simplicity of the
design also allows clients to add additional carts manually to increase
production or throughput, or remove carts for manual transportation, maintenance
or repair.
Since vehicles follow a set path at a pre-determined speed, efficient
unattended, high-speed operation is possible, while reducing traffic confusion
for forklift trucks and personnel across the track. Ease of operation and
maintenance also reduces manpower requirements, providing better return on
investment compared to other materials handling equipment.
Most Towline systems are capable of transporting very heavy loads effectively
and efficiently and the system can be easily integrated with other off-line
automation equipment.
Skillet Conveyors
Excel Automation skillet conveyors are available as in-floor or above floor
variants. They typically consist of a series of large, safe, ergonomic moving
work platforms arranged in positive contact with each other in a non-impact
accumulated manner. This creates the effect of a moving floor and means that
each work platform can support a load (e.g. car body, etc.) and, for many
applications, the weight of operators performing assembly or test processes.
With smooth operation around the system – both on straight runs and bend
sections – and an ergonomic assembly flow that reduces operator fatigue, Excel’s
skillet conveyor systems are suitable for a wide range of assembly, process and
test operations.
Each platform can, if required, incorporate a lift to allow height adjustment to
suit either the process or the height of the operator. Platforms can also be
integrated with other materials handling systems and equipment where necessary.
Skillet conveyors are flexible to operate, economical to run, clean and quiet in
operation, require minimal maintenance and have negligible potential downtime,
resulting in an excellent return on investment.
Skid Conveyors
Excel skid conveyors are predominantly used in the automotive industry to
transport car bodies, etc. (mounted onto a pair of “ski bars” or ‘skids’)
through
body shops, paint shops, and trim and final assembly processes.
Over the years we have supplied skid conveyor systems to most major automotive
manufacturers. Our range includes the following equipment:
· Powered Roller Conveyors
· Chain or Belt Skid Conveyors
· Raise & Lower Devices
· Turntables
· Cross & Side Transfer Conveyors
· Shuttle Transfer Assemblies
· Tilt Table Assemblies
· Plus other ancillary equipment
The benefits of skid conveyor systems include very smooth conveying, fast
transfer times, excellent load stability throughout the process, in-line
accumulation, variable work heights at different processes, stackable skids to
reduce space for storage or transportation when not in use.
Thanks to their modular design, skid system layouts are also extremely adaptable
and easy to modify.
Excel Automation towline, skillet and skid control systems can provide either
continuous process speed operation (variable speed if required) or indexing
movements.
