VDI Logistics Innovation Prize 2008 for SAVOYE GmbH

At the 17th VDI Materialfluss-Kongress in Garching, on April 3rd, the first prize for logistics innovation 2008 was awarded to SAVOYE GmbH for their PTS Picking Tray System launched earlier this year.

In front of more than 600 guests, Willibald A. Guenthner, Head of Faculty for Materials Handling Material Flow Logistics at the Technical University in Munich, praised Savoye’s innovative system as, not only. an efficient, highly flexible and reliable AS/RS solution but also, due to the application of super capacitors, extremely environmentally friendly.

The PTS Picking Tray System is a high-performance automated storage/retrieval system for cases and totes with a performance of up to 800 lines per man/hour and, for the first time, super capacitors are used as power supply for AS/RS.
PTS Picking Tray System is flexible due to the use of autonomous shuttles and can handle both cases and totes. The main applications for this technology are high-performance order picking systems, flexible provisory storages for returned goods as well as dynamic shipping buffers.

In his presentation Professor Guenthner stated that “The Jury couldn’t help but be fascinated by the charm of this logistics solution,”

The 2nd prize was awarded to the Voice PGV - Pick Guided Vehicle of Dematic GmbH. The 3rd Price went to the outdoor AGV GPS System of Sick-Vertriebs GmbH, Duesseldorf.
