The UK division of the Kern Group will be working with ABB to identify and develop new opportunities for deploying robots in its mailroom and packaging systems.

Delivering technological innovation and customer driven services in the UK for over 20 years, Kern is now turning to robotic technology to help it meet the changing needs of the mailroom systems market, as well as to support its solutions for the packaging machinery industry John Hawley, General Manager of Kern, comments: "We have identified significant opportunities in the UK for robotics in the mailing sector and are confident that the technology offers a valuable way forward in helping us meet the future requirements of our customers"

As an ABB Global Partner, Kern now has access to advice and tools to help it find ways to automate its processes with robotic technology.

Mr Hawley continues: "Before entering into this partnership, we were well-aware of ABB as a world-class supplier so it was a natural step for us to look for them to be a partner in our sector.

ABB is recognised as one of the world's leading suppliers of robots, and the company has already worked with one of our partners, Tecno Pack, which was naturally an influencing factor in our decision making process".

Alan Spreckley, Channel Partner Manager for ABB Robotics, comments: "Kern is well-established as a mailing solutions specialist and has shown its commitment to delivering the latest solutions by expanding further into the packaging market.

By working with Kern we can ensure that its customers get the most suitable automated solutions for its needs, and provide the company with the opportunities to develop and expand its own brand".

As well as access to sales, marketing, technical, application and service support, the ABB Global Partner Programme also acts as a forum for the creation of further business opportunities between ABB partners, providing global possibilities for business ventures.

By joining the Global Partner Program, ABB partners can enjoy a renewed competitive edge, as well as the tools and information to succeed with robot-based automation" says Spreckley: "As a network for the exchange of ideas, the programme can help partners to identify and build opportunities with like-minded companies looking for new ways to automate their processes".
